Senior Frontend Engineer
That Random Agency is a 12-person, women-owned marketing agency in Troy, Michigan. We do social, SEO, and AI visibility for brands like Comerica Bank and Mazda. We're good at making other people famous. Now we want some of that for ourselves.
Our two cofounders have strong opinions, a Forbes column, a Fox 2 Detroit relationship, and about eleven free minutes a week between them. Your job is to turn their ideas, rants, and client war stories into LinkedIn posts and short-form video that people watch to the end. You'll film them, edit them, and write in two distinct voices, because they don't sound alike and their content shouldn't either. You'll build the machine that markets the agency itself.
This is a maker role, and it's remote. You'll work from wherever you work best, with one in-person day a month in Metro Detroit for video shoots or a working session at our coworking space. Those days matter, since that's when we batch-film the founder content you'll spend the rest of the month editing and posting. If you'd rather build a 47-slide strategy deck than hit publish, this isn't your job. If you'd rather hit publish, keep reading.
What we look for
You've made short-form video that performed, and you can show us. TikTok, Reels, Shorts, your own account, a past employer's, doesn't matter. Receipts over resumes.
You can write like a person. Two people, even. Our cofounders have different voices, different lanes, and different takes, and you'll need to hold both in your head without blending them into one generic exec voice. Ghostwriting experience is a real plus.
You're comfortable pointing a camera at an executive who has somewhere else to be. You can get a usable 30 seconds out of a 4-minute ramble.
You can plan a shoot day. When we're together once a month, you show up with a shot list for both founders and leave with a month of raw footage. No winging it.
You know LinkedIn is where B2B decisions get made and you have opinions about what works there right now, not what worked in 2024.
You edit fast. CapCut, Premiere, Descript, whatever gets it done.
Bonus points: you've worked at or with an agency, you understand AI search and why brands care about showing up in ChatGPT, or you've built a founder or exec's personal brand before.
Two to four years of experience is probably right, but if your work is undeniable we don't care how long you've been doing it.
What we offer
$48,000 to $62,000, depending on experience. Health coverage. 401(k). Unlimited PTO. Monthly Doordash stipend. Paid service days. Annual Team Trip. Remote work, with one Detroit-area day a month that we'll always schedule ahead.
The selection process
Apply with your portfolio. Links to actual posted work are preferred.
A 30-minute call with our founders.
A small paid test project: one short video concept and one LinkedIn post in each founder's voice. Paid means paid. We don't collect free work.
We move fast. The whole process usually takes two to three weeks.
Before you apply
Do not send a cover letter that says you're passionate about storytelling. Send us three pieces of content you made that you're proud of and one sentence on why each one worked.
